Hello everyone, SCUM players! AVE Echelon!
It has already been three months since our SCUM server has been running stably and is open to all who wish to join! I’d like to share the latest news and thoughts about our community. Get ready, as big changes are coming!
Server news for October:
- Events in full swing! We’ve held several events that we think went really well. Each new event builds on the experience of the previous one, so things will only get better and better!
The airplane video has probably been seen by now, while the Derby one is still in progress. Stay tuned for announcements and don’t forget to share your screenshots and videos with us in the #media. - Record ratings! Our server is currently ranked 266th out of 5479 SCUM servers on Battlemetrics, 3rd on TopGames, and 25th on WarGM. These are the best results so far, even surpassing servers with a long history!
Of course, among Ukrainian servers, we lead by a large margin, thanks to you and your votes in the ratings. - Loot improvements! The loot dropped by zombies has been adjusted. Now, the items you find on them are of better quality and can be repaired. Also, if you manage to disarm a doll with C4 — you’ll get a nice reward!
When you sell zombie eyes to any trader, the bot will add 100 hryvnias to your account. - Improved killbox! We changed the loot generation logic in the killbox, increasing the chance of getting RPGs without reducing the drop chance of other valuable loot in the bunker.
- Faster PrisonerBot! Our PrisonerBot, which helps manage the server, has also been updated and now works 50% faster! Have you noticed how daily packs appear almost instantly? Although it sometimes misbehaves, we don’t let it slack off.
Plans for next month:
- Dream Team! As you know, our admins often have discussions because we’ve assembled a team of friends with shared gaming experiences, but different playstyles and preferences. This gives us an edge in finding optimal solutions for our server’s players. (Just like in any squad: someone’s a hacker, someone’s a sniper, and the most valuable — the quartermaster!)
- Website improvements! We’re actively working on our website to improve your comfort in our Discord and reduce the number of channels with rules, etc. It’s also helpful for expanding our online presence.
- Preparing for update and wipe! We’re gradually forming a list of changes to the server that will take place with the next developer update, which includes a wipe.
Here’s what we can report for now:
- New PvE zones! We’ll be relocating PvE zones from Z-squares to zones in C4 and A0:
- Reason: The climate in Z-squares is quite hot, and for PvE players, gardening is important.
- Advantage: C4 and A0 have fewer critical military sites.
- More opportunities: The new zone locations will allow PvE players to explore the open world more frequently and have a broader exit area from the zone.
- Changes in squads! We agreed on a maximum squad size of 6 members, regardless of the leader’s intelligence level:
- Why? Some squads with 10 active players create challenges for smaller teams that prefer to play within a close circle and don’t want to build a large base.
- Goal: After the wipe, defending a base with three members against six will be easier than 3 vs. 10. We want to balance squad competition a bit.
- Vehicle limit! We’ll review the vehicle limit rule for players:
- Suggestion: 1 car per player + 0.5 other vehicles per squad member.
- Example: If there are three of you, you can have a car each and an additional motorcycle or boat.
- Planes: The plane limit rule will remain unchanged.
- Server settings review! We’ll review all server settings based on our current management experience, but these will be minor changes:
- Goal: We want to keep gameplay on our server as survival-based, with an extra touch of adventures we create.
- Welcome pack! We like the list of items in the welcome pack, but we might make some changes, though it’s not certain:
- Your ideas: Send us your suggestions for the welcome pack and daily packs!
- Raid time adjustment! We’ll likely change raid time to from 17 to 23 Kyiv time:
- Reason: 6 hours is enough for raiding any base, but we want you to get enough rest and return to us in a good mood the next day!
- Base changes!
- Fence: Players using 1-unit fence sections are taking advantage of the lack of restrictions. Therefore, fences must be built at least 1 meter long, so no picket fences in NPC buildings that are too costly to access with explosives.
- Post-raid recovery: We’re exploring ways to recover after a raid. We thought about providing a temporary PvE zone for base restoration to those who were raided, but this discloses location information. Therefore, we’ll most likely prohibit raiding the same base twice in 2 consecutive days, giving the defending squad a small break after a raid.
- Rule review! We don’t want to overwhelm players with numerous restrictions and prohibitions, so we’ll review each of our rules and possibly remove or add something new soon.
- PvP event! We have a PvP event that starts automatically when the server reaches 30 players online:
- Where to find out? You can find out where this event takes place in the Discord channel #warzone-event.
- Plans: Currently, there are up to 10 zones, but with the new update, we want to introduce only 3 warzones and mark them with colors for a better understanding of the server’s happenings.
- It will be: 2 green square PvE zones and 1 red close-combat square in the middle.
- Traders: 3 green traders and 1 red in B4.
- New zones: 3 squares or circles of a different color indicating warzones for everyone with no rules.
All these changes will take effect ONLY after the new game update, which will be accompanied by a wipe. We have no plans to wipe our server; we’re following updates made by SCUM developers.
By the way! Judging by how often the developers post about new things coming to the game, share screenshots, and teasers, the new patch should be coming soon.
We don’t have information on the exact update date or if there will be a wipe, so I personally recommend not accumulating a lot of loot and money in your in-game bank account. Try to keep only what’s necessary, sell the rest, and split the accumulated funds 50% in gold and 50% to our bot’s account via Discord.
How’s everyone doing? Don’t hesitate to share your thoughts on our server and management style, as we’re new to this and may overlook something. But we’re happy to listen to everyone! You know how to reach us? #ticket-support
Special thanks! A special thank you to the players who support our community with donations. We’ve chosen the best hosting plan and powerful resources for the game server and bot. Of course, this isn’t cheap, but it’s the responsibility we’ve taken on to provide a quality server and comfortable gameplay for the Ukrainian community.
To everyone who supports us — big hugs and sincere thanks from the entire Echelon community! 🤗
Together we’re strong! Play, have fun, and stay connected! AVE Echelon!
